Who are Home-Start Leeds?

We are an independent locally managed charity that began in 1987.

Home-Start is a national and international charity with over 300 schemes in the UK and schemes in 22 other countries. The first Home-Start scheme started in Leicester in 1973.

We are affiliated to our national organisation, Home-Start UK, which supports local schemes by providing information, support and guidance that ensures consistent and quality support for families.

At the heart of all that we do at Home-Start is the well being, health and safety of children and young people.

We recognise that often the best way to help children is to support their parents, helping them give their children the best possible start in life.

We are committed to promoting the well being and safety of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all of our volunteers, trustees and staff to share this commitment.

We promote equality of opportunity and inclusion for all and celebrate the diversity and contribution that everyone brings to our organisation.

We expect all our staff, trustees and volunteers at all times to uphold attitudes, values, behaviours and language that underpin child centred practice.

We are passionate about ensuring the voice and influence of young children, young people, parents, carers and volunteers informs development and delivery of all our services.
